Shamanic Rituals – A Form of Spiritual Communication
Shamanic rituals are a form of spiritual communication. They speak a universal language that works across cultures, times, and religions. I am Sven Horn, a shamanic healer in the Nepalese tradition. Through many years of intensive practice and training with my teacher in Nepal, I have gained deep insights into the effectiveness of these rituals.
In this tradition, honesty and love play a crucial role in the power of a ritual. Although a ritual may appear simple and naive from the outside, our connection to nature and its energies is what makes such a ritual effective.
What are Shamanic Rituals?
Rituals are structured actions that serve to connect with the spiritual world. They open gateways to energies, ancestors, natural forces, and spiritual helpers. In the Nepalese tradition, as I have learned it, rituals are not only culturally influenced but deeply spiritual and universally valid. Rituals are passed down through generations via teachers. They often differ in details from tradition to tradition, but are found at their core in all cultures.
Objects for Rituals
A ritual emerges when we bring together the elements fire, water, earth, air, and ether with an intention to use this created energy. The elements do not necessarily have to be brought together, and focusing on one element can also be a strong energy carrier. A fire ritual gains its power through focus and working with the element of fire. Respect and honest communication with the element is indispensable from a shamanic perspective.
In everyday life, we also experience rituals when completely ordinary things are used in the same arrangement and in the same rhythm. Even small actions like lighting a cigarette or how we keep our household organized can contain rituals that we use consciously or unconsciously. These rituals also serve here to support our lives, to initiate an action or achieve a goal.
Types of Shamanic Rituals
In my work, I use a variety of traditional rituals – always adapted to the individual situation and the concerns of the people who come to me. The most common forms include:
Fire Rituals

Fire is a powerful transformer. Fire rituals serve to purify energies, transform karma, and express gratitude. From a shamanic perspective, fire is a living being that enables us a gateway to the spiritual world.
Offering and Gratitude Rituals with Flowers and Fruits
These rituals honor the spiritual helpers, nature beings, or planetary forces. They bring harmony to difficult life situations and promote spiritual development. These rituals are often performed in connection with a fire ritual.
Purification Rituals with the Elements
Water, earth, fire, air, and ether are purposefully used to cleanse and harmonize the physical, emotional, and energetic body. When we bring all elements together, this is already a statement to the universe. In connection with necessary respect and the right combination, we can achieve certain effects.
Energetic Rituals
They resolve complaints in the energy system, strengthen the chakras, and activate life energy (Prana or Kundalini). In the Nepalese tradition, mantras and Kundalini energy are particularly used. They also exist in the form of dances or trance states.
Spiritual Rituals
These rituals open consciousness to higher levels, promote spiritual growth, and establish a deeper connection to one’s own soul path. To reach the spiritual world, fire rituals are often used with the addition of various offerings and the other elements. Channeling is also often employed.
Shamanic Rituals are Universal
Every person can come into contact with the spiritual world through rituals – whether through a simple offering of gratitude, a daily prayer, or a profound shamanic ritual. A shaman additionally possesses a connection to the spiritual world and can energetically charge these rituals. The ancient knowledge of how a ritual is composed works just as effectively today as it did in the past.
A guide for an Ancestral Healing Ritual

The aim of this ritual is to strengthen and improve relationships with the ancestors so that they can help us to master our lives, maintain a good relationship with our living family members and fulfill our wishes.
The essence of a general ancestral ritual is an expression of love for the ancestors. If this essence is absent, the ritual is useless. To create the feeling of love, always keep the attention in the heart center and especially when giving something during the ritual.
Ancestral rituals are best performed at sunrise and no later than 2 hours after sunrise. They can also be performed at sunset, but sunrise is better. The morning of the new moon can be considered the best day. We should not perform the ritual on a full moon.
Materials:
1 x candle
1 x paper plate
1 x paper cup with water
1 x 2 incense sticks
1 x elements that the deceased liked (cigarettes, coffee, etc.) or simply flowers or fruit
Preparing Ancestral Healing Ritual
Place the lamp or candle on the disposable plate and light it with matches, not lighters. Now remember the ancestors you knew and greet them in spirit and wish them all the best. With those ancestors with whom you have a particularly good connection, you can spend a little more time connecting with them in your heart. In general, greet all ancestors you never knew but who are nevertheless your ancestors.
Then announce to your ancestors that you have brought them some gifts and place the gifts on the disposable plate in that order.
First fill the water pot, cup or vase to the brim. Then add flowers, objects or leaves to the vase. Now arrange all the other offerings one by one on the plate, in a beautiful way around the vase.
Now light the 2 incense sticks and hold them in your hand while you mentally turn to the ancestors again by saying something like the following in your mind:
- Hello, how are you?
- I hope you like these gifts, please enjoy them.
- I hope I’m not doing anything wrong in your eyes, and if I am, please forgive me, I’m doing my best and I’m willing to learn and improve.
Then in the end. Thank you for your help. Which is also the truth.
Now place the two incense sticks on the plate (put them in a fruit or a soft candy), salute the plate one last time and mentally say that you will leave the plate there until the next day after you have hidden it from the public as described above. as described above. No one but you should then see the plate for the next few hours.
After the Ancestral Healing Ritual
If the candle or oil lamp can burn until it burns out, that’s best. If not, extinguish the flame without blowing, but with a hand movement or a spoon. If no candle or oil lamp is used, the incense sticks must be lit right at the beginning of the ritual. lit as they provide the fire element needed for the connection.
Bring the elements other than the paper into nature on the other day. If you need more informations about shamanic healing, please contact me, Namaste
